When Ippolit leaves Russia to live with his mother in Germany, his friendship with his best friend Lëxa starts to fall to pieces. Memories of kids playing in sandboxes fade just as those few reminders of adventures taken together over the years.

Ippolit Vikhorev embarks on a search for traces of his past. To connect the past with the present and revive old memories, he travels back to the places where those remaining memories began, to bring those old memories to life. The story is about true childhood memories, told as short stories. It depicts, in its entirety, the portrait of a friendship between two Russian boys.

Set in the ‘’Viborgskiy Rayon’’ district of Saint Petersburg, where Ippolit spent his early childhood with Lëxa.

A world is shown that consists of three levels, which are interwoven. The first one is that of one's own mental representations. The two protagonists co-exist in the same cosmos but it is impossible for them to communicate with each other. The second level, of an apparent reality where cinematic encounters occur in their place of origin. The last, refers to the scientific research with respect to the subject matter. Its forefront built on the balance between remembering and forgetting, between perception and reality, truth and falsehood. Narrated quotations attempt to help Ippolit examine and explain his memories.

Through an artistic and intertwining narrative, the film is created into something complex, unique and interesting.
